Jewelry Appraisals
Jewelry appraisals are not to be taken lightly. Your insurance company will use he information on your appraisal to replace lost or stolen jewelry. That is why a professional jewelry appraiser must know the technical issues related to insurance claims. Do not assume the store you purchase your jewelry is also qualified to appraise. Check credentials. You will see my certificates and memberships on the wall of my office, as well as the gemological equipment necessary to properly identify gemstones. I am a Graduate Gemologist (GIA); Fellow, Gemmological Association of Great Britain and member, NAJA. Jewelry Design at McFarlin's Studio
McFarlin's jewelry designs will not only inspire you, they will transform you. That's because I will start with a blank canvas to create a new design or use the gemstones you have to re-design to your personal taste.
process is -
- Set an appointment for a free consultation (bring all gemstones/jewelry you want to use)
- Once the design is conceptualized, I will build the jewelry using computer aided design
- We will meet again to discuss any changes you wish to make
- Once the design is agreed upon, I will cut the wax form for the jewelry
- You will view this wax and approve or request changes
- I cast the jewelry in-house , set the stones and polish the metal to perfection.
- We set an appointment for pick up
- You pick up your new jewelry and enjoy the new design
In-House Jewelry Repair
I offer a full range of jewelry repair and maintenance services on-site and by-appointment at McFarlin's Studio. I have over 40 years experience as a bench jeweler/goldsmith. Jewelry services include ring sizing, tightening loose stones, repairing breaks in shanks, re-building the bottom of your ring, prong re-tipping, stone setting, crown/head replacement, refinishing rings, refurbishing vintage jewelry and more. In most cases, laser repair allows work to be completed without removing stones. I personally handle all repairs, by appointment, in my office. While-you-wait services are available on most repairs.
